God said, No.

I asked God to take away my habit.

God said, No.

It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.

God said, No.

His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary

I asked God to grant me patience.

God said, No.

Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;

it isn't granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.

God said, No.

I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.

God said, No.

Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares

and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.

God said, No.

You must grow on your own,

but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.

God said, No.

I will give you life,

so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others,

as much as He loves me.

God said.......Ahhhh,finally you have the idea.

THIS DAY IS YOURS

DON'T THROW IT AWAY

May God Bless You,

'To the world you might be one person,

But to one person you just might be the world'

'May the Lord Bless you and keep you,

May the Lord Make his face shine upon you,

And give you Peace......Forever'

'Good friends are like stars...

You don't always see them, But you know they are always there."

herd behavior

How many of you still remember the bursting of the internet bubble? Probably many, but why do you still moan for your recent loss in stock today? This wasn't the first time that events like this have happened in the markets. How could something so catastrophic be allowed to happen over and over again?

The answer to this question can be found in what some people believe to be a hardwired human attribute: herd behavior, which is the tendency for individuals to mimic the actions (rational or irrational) of a larger group. Individually, however, most people would not necessarily make the same choice.
There are a couple of reasons why herd behavior happens:
  1. The first is the social pressure of conformity. You probably know from experience that this can be a powerful force. This is because most people are very sociable and have a natural desire to be accepted by a group, rather than be branded as an outcast. Therefore, following the group is an ideal way of becoming a member.
  2. The second reason is the common rationale that it's unlikely that such a large group could be wrong. After all, even if you are convinced that a particular idea or course or action is irrational or incorrect, you might still follow the herd, believing they know something that you don't. This is especially prevalent in situations in which an individual has very little experience.

The Dotcom Herd
Herd behavior was exhibited in the late 1990s as venture capitalists and private investors were frantically investing huge amounts of money into internet-related companies, even though most of these dotcoms did not (at the time) have financially sound business models. The driving force that seemed to compel these investors to sink their money into such an uncertain venture was the reassurance they got from seeing so many others do the same thing.
A strong herd mentality can even affect financial professionals. The ultimate goal of a money manager is to follow an investment strategy to maximize a client's invested wealth. The problem lies in the amount of scrutiny that money managers receive from their clients whenever a new investment fad pops up. For example, a wealthy client may have heard about an investment gimmick that's gaining notoriety and inquires about whether the money manager employs a similar "strategy".
In many cases, it's tempting for a money manager to follow the herd of investment professionals. After all, if the aforementioned gimmick pans out, his clients will be happy. If it doesn't, that money manager can justify his poor decision by pointing out just how many others were led astray.

The Costs of Being Led Astray
Herd behavior, as the dotcom bubble illustrates, is usually not a very profitable investment strategy. Investors that employ a herd-mentality investment strategy constantly buy and sell their investment assets in pursuit of the newest and hottest investment trends. For example, if a herd investor hears that internet stocks are the best investments right now, he will free up his investment capital and then dump it on internet stocks. If biotech stocks are all the rage six months later, he'll probably move his money again, perhaps before he has even experienced significant appreciation in his internet investments.
Keep in mind that all this frequent buying and selling incurs a substantial amount of transaction costs, which can eat away at available profits. Furthermore, it's extremely difficult to time trades correctly to ensure that you are entering your position right when the trend is starting. By the time a herd investor knows about the newest trend, most other investors have already taken advantage of this news, and the strategy's wealth-maximizing potential has probably already peaked. This means that many herd-following investors will probably be entering into the game too late and are likely to lose money as those at the front of the pack move on to other strategies.

Avoiding the Herd Mentality
While it's tempting to follow the newest investment trends, an investor is generally better off steering clear of the herd. Just because everyone is jumping on a certain investment "bandwagon" doesn't necessarily mean the strategy is correct. Therefore, the soundest advice is to always do your homework before following any trend.
Just remember that particular investments favored by the herd can easily become overvalued because the investment's high values are usually based on optimism and not on the underlying fundamentals.

Vengeance Of Rain, the 2005 World Racing Championship winner, will soon return to his birthplace in New Zealand to start a new life of leisure following his recent retirement from racing.
I'm sure you'll agree with me that it was incredible to see this true champion make such an impressive comeback from his heart irregularity problem in early-2006, returning to his very best form to win the Dubai Sheema Classic last March. This was a priceless achievement for Hong Kong racing as it was the first overseas victory by a locally-trained horse at International Group One level over the "classic" distance (2,000-2,400 metres).

Vengeance Of Rain's career earnings of HK$75.4 million make him the highest earner of any horse in Hong Kong's racing history so far, eclipsing even the record of the mighty Silent Witness. They also place him 11th on the list of the world's highest-earning horses, putting him in the same company as the great Australasian mares Makybe Diva and Sunline, Japanese champions Deep Impact and Admire Moon, and top American dirt runner and Dubai World Cup winner Cigar.

Personally, I think he's a great racehorse, always has a special aura, and special personality. For me, seeing him winning in Dubai, beating world class field and sharing this with the winning team - Chow's family, Trainer and Jockey, is something very special.

His glamorous career also demonstrates that there is a great deal more to horse racing than betting, as this horse has shown us the fighting spirit of a true ''sportsman'', and has over the years brought a lot of pride and prestige to Hong Kong.

Market Commentary

I have just fallen out with one of my good  friend who in the past few years has been actively participating in trading stocks in the market when I gave him a warning that he has to sell out all the stocks on hand. The point is the trouble evolves from the subprime mortgage is emerging its significant and disastrous outcome. However, most investors were previously very much dazzled by the optimistic comments on the good side of China's economic, or the saying of "transferring of Northern money to South" etc, together with the US M&A continuation, they ignore the actual situation.

I gotta rush to write here some more insight for your evaluation of the investment portfolio based on the changing needs and market situation so far as seen. The subprime problems had signaled those when HSBC took the lead in announcing their performance would be dragged down from such problem whilst many other financial institutes were concealing the effect. Having said so, the DOW Jones Index reflects contrarily and the massive Merging and Acquisition seemed trying to dilute the agony from it. Troubles linked to bad bets on subprime mortgages had already emerged at a number of hedge funds, starting with two owned by Bear Stearns last month, and at other financial institutions in the U.S., Australia and Germany.  The situation got worse through the end of July as firms trying to raise money in credit markets, either to fund the buy-outs of other companies, or for other needs such as financing share buy-backs and dividends, found it increasingly hard to find willing lenders. The smaller size stocks last week experience horrible plummets from chaotic sellout is a case in point, and in addition, this bad situation could even be exacerbated by the JPN carry trade.

The recent financial market turmoil has broadened and the adjustment is ongoing and could deepen, and therefore the downturn of the previous frantic rises will not be short term and shallow. I want to remind those who have stock on-hand should sell out during each of the rebound to cash in because of the following points:

·                     A technical indicator called Hindenburg Omen developed to predict the potential for a financial market crash has recently revealed  frequently that the number of securities that form new 52-week highs relative to the number of securities that form new 52-week lows are greater than 2.2% of the total number of issues that trade on the NYSE (for that specific day),  it suggests that market participants are starting to become unsure of the market's future direction and therefore could be due for a major correction. Proponents of this indicator argue that it has been very accurate in predicting sharp sell-offs in the past and that there are few indicators that can predict a market crash as accurately.

·                     Most people's basic alert were overcome by the too strong the market situations in the past, and almost everyone around you has participating trading in the stock market, despite the fact that several stock prices are unreasonably high already. Historical events reminded us that this will usually be the turning point of bearish from bullish.

·                     No matter you consider believing in Che Kong's divinatory stick is superstitious or not, I do find some sort of magical and mysterious power there. Recalling the year of 2003, when an omen stick was drawn and the wordings reminded us the burst out of epidemics; there came the SARS afterward. This year, the divinatory stick of Che Kong's wordings is decipherable as reminding us what ten, and twenty years ago became when financial crisis happened.

All in all, even one is positive to the markets in the long run due to the rising economy of mainland China, one should be very prudent to the current situation and unless all technical indicators have gone back to safety position, DO NOT participate in trading for the time being.

週前,一個「I am not a plastic bag」的環保袋,另港台兩地的人排通霄爭購。
